My 100 Day Painting Challenge: Day 1

So I’ve been told that the best way to become a better painter is to simply paint more. So I’ve started a 100 day challenge to paint everyday (or almost everyday if life intervenes) and I will post them here to see if there is any improvement with what I create over time.

Desert Dusk by Dante M. Pirouz, May 6, 2025

The first thing that I’ve painted since my move to Mexico was this desert scene based on a photo I found on the internet. It is acrylic on paper and since paper is not my favorite surface since it buckles and starts to peel away with too many brushstrokes, I don’t love that the paint looks watercolory. But it does relay the mood of dusk in the dessert when the sun is setting and lights up the mountains and the sky darkens.
