Day 8 of my 100 Day Challenge

This was another rather cartoonish but fun attempt at depicting the color and details of a simple cactus many of which I see everyday on my twice daily walks with my Pomeranian Maple. The cactis that grow here in Mexico are so varied and complex that it seems as if I am walking in an otherworldly garden of spikes and blooms. When it rains here, which right now in May we are headed into the rainy season in San Miguel de Allende the cacti seem to explode throught their tops with flowers and extra leaves practically overnight depending on the species and our morning is often spent searching for what cropped up during the previous night’s rain.
