Day 21 of my 100 Day Painting Challenge

This painting was done on a canvas that I had previously used to draft ideas for a commission piece earlier this year. I folded the canvas sheet and stuck it among some other sheets for the shipment from Michigan to Mexico so it had creases and wrinkles in it that I tried to iron out but remained. Nonetheless, I wanted to repurpose the canvas so it didn’t go to waste and worked out a darker, moody horizon scene cut through by a strip of billowing clouds to the right side. As with most of my work, it took multiple layers of paint to achieve the smooth and translucent effect that I wanted when there is shifting light in the sky and reflecting from the landscape.
